It’s a great day for independent film and public television!
We know you’ve been following the news about our move to Thursdays this year. Since that announcement was made in March, we’ve been talking with PBS about the best way to support independent film on your local schedule.
Today, we’re excited to announce, with PBS and ITVS, a new strategy to boost the year-round audience for POV and Independent Lens.
The schedule for our 25th anniversary season is unchanged and we’ll be broadcasting on Thursday nights at 10 PM starting with the broadcast premiere of Jennifer Fox’s My Reincarnation on June 21. Beginning on October 29, with the new season of Independent Lens, both series will switch to Monday nights at 10 PM.
PBS, working with Independent Lens and POV, will be developing a multiplatform film festival for next year, with on-air, online and mobile content. Six POV films were a part of PBS’s first-ever Online Film Festival earlier this year.
Stay tuned to POV’s blog for news about events and more as we celebrate our 25th year on public television.
We thank PBS, independent filmmakers and our viewers for their support — and passion — for independent film.
